Botanical Name:
Lamium galeobdolon 'Hermann's Pride'
LAY-mee-um gal-ee-OB-doe-lon vair-ee-eh-GAY-tum
Common Name: Deadnettle, yellow archangel
Synonyms: Galeobdolon luteum, Lamiastrum galeobdolon, Lamium luteum
Genus:
Lamium
'Hermann's Pride' is small, but bold. Unlike the rampantly creeping variegated yellow lamium (Lamium galeobdolon 'Variegatum'), the lamium cultivar ‘Hermann’s Pride’ is a slow-growing, clump-forming treasure that grows like a small bush, beautiful in foliage (jagged, silvery, and green) and flower (brilliant yellow). Masses of flowers appear in late spring to early summer. While some may have trouble controlling this cultivar, it behaves meekly in harsh climates.
Noteworthy characteristics:
A less aggressive alternative to Lamium galeobdolon 'Variegatum'.
Care:
Grow in moist but well-drained soil. Do not over-water.
Propagation:
By division or stem-cuttings.
Problems:
Downy mildew, powdery mildew, leaf spot, slugs, and snails.

Pretty yellow flowers in spring/early summer. Enjoyable silvery green foliage from spring into fall. Grows well in sun or shade, forming small mounds. Seems to spread more if grown in a shady spot. Easy to divide and replant or share. Requires very little care.
