Common Name: Fumewort Synonyms: C halleri, C. transsylvanica Genus: Corydalis

This species produces mauve-pink, purple, or white flower spikes in spring over deeply divided gray-green leaves that are barely 10 inches tall.
Noteworthy characteristics: In time it forms an ephemeral carpet of delicate color and texture in the spring.
Care: Prefers partial shade or full sun. Needs very well-drained, moderately fertile soil. Grow in a rock garden.
Propagation: Sow seed when fresh; germination may be erratic. Divide in fall.
Problems: Downy mildew, rust, aphids, slugs, snails; spider mites indoors.

I thought it is very nice! I would definitely order it again. I like the colors and how it comes back every year! It is hardy and grows well here in Iowa. I can't say that about every plant we grow.

There are several cultivars of Corydalis solida. 'George Baker' is a fine, strong red clone.
