So, I’ve been holed up at home, on the couch, for more days than I can remember, but my neighbor and dear friend Laura, who’s been dropping off food (I love you, Laura!!), commanded that I go outside for just a few minutes the other day, so I thought I snap some shots of what’s going on in my garden. The bed I started from scratch in the spring is a jungle now! I’m still working on getting some backed off shots that aren’t blurry, but here are a few close-up happenings, as well as a couple of shots of what’s up with my containers. Enjoy! And oooooh, do I have a cool (ha!) post for you for tomorrow….

Wow. You must have been really down and out if someone had to command you to go out into that garden. Gorgeous!
Michelle, we all are so glad to know that you are feeling better. your garden is gorgeous -happy and colorful, with some of my favorite plants
Yes, I enjoy the pictures everyday and sometimes there are
descriptions of the pictures underneath which I particularly love since I'm not very good at recognizing plant names.
Could you ask your contributors to include descriptions of the pictures? Please?
Well,Michelle, your plants certainly seem in fine fettle (hmmm, are things ever in a bad "fettle"?)...had to be good for your spirits to see everything looking so healthy and robust! The grouping that includes the canna and coleus is gorgeous. And is the white flowering plant that is companion to the variegated striped grass a cleome? Whatever it is, it certainly has a delightful affect in combination with that particular grass. Welcome back and continue to get well.
Very impressive. Anyone who likes verbena bonariensis is "good people" in my book. Hope you recover fully very soon.
Michelle, before I forget, I loved your photos of the Coastal Maine Botanical Garden. Three years ago friends we were visiting in Maine took us there and I fell in love. I sent them the link.
I do hope you are better soon. I so love these emails. They make my day.
A question: what is the deep red, frilly leafed plant peaking out from the leaves of the purple shield (I hope I have that right) plant, second photo down on the right? Is it a frilly perilla?
Sorry to hear that you've been sick. Not fun especially in the summer time.
Your color combination are lovely. They give a sense of coolness in this hot summer.
Looking great! get well soon
Michelle, I'm glad to see you're on the mend, and your new pictures are looking great.
Beautiful! Why aren't you recovering out there instead of inside? You have a good friend! I recognize that Datura and Perilla and I never thought to combine the two but now I will - thanks for the inspiration! Hope you recover soon.
Delightful, Michelle and glad to hear that you are on the mend. Great plant combinations. I've started noting all of your photo credits in the magazine and you have a great eye for capturing details. Your close-up photos are art. Coleus-canna-sweet potato is my favorite. Who knew that those plain-grandma's-plants (coleus and coral bells) would become a modern day kaleidoscope of colors and choices?
You know we love that colored foliage!
Beautiful! So glad you were able to see and enjoy your beautiful work. Thanks for sharing!
Your garden is stunning Michelle - and feel better soon!
That's what is right outside? Stunning combinations. I think looking at beauty has healing power so you should be better by tomorrow. ;)
Michelle, your gardens are so YOU - cool, lush, and exciting! The focus on color and texture-rich foliage is captivating. Is that a "Bengal Tiger" Canna? I have the exact same one in a big cobalt blue bowl - it's as vigorous as yours. Your canna looks stunning with the Perilla - will try that next year!
I love your beautiful arrangements of plants. I hope you feel better soon. Thanks for sharing.
What lush and attractive combos ... and just right outside your doorstep, too! Get well soon Michelle.
