These 130-140 species of evergreen shrubs and small trees hail from Australia. They are grown for their ornamental, leathery foliage and their nectar-rich, unusual looking flowers that often attract birds. The woody fruit can often be decorative as well. Grow Hakea in a greenhouse or shrub border, as hedging, or as specimens.
