A large genus of between 500 and 600 species of annual and perennial sedges, mostly from wet tropical and subtropical habitats. Their grassy foliage and often umbrella-like flowers make them gardenworthy. Use Cyperus in wet areas such as at a pond’s edge or in a bog garden. Some may be grown in containers or in a water garden.
