does anyone know of a miniature-dwarf japanese maples that will thrive in full sun here?

I've seen Japanese Maples in the Southwest in courtyard gardens that are sheltered (not full sun). Also most soils in the Southwest are not ideal for Japanese maples. I suggest thinking about a shady location in a container where you can really control the soil. I would love to hear more from others.
