Is anyone starting fall vegetables?

Chloe_Moderator | Posted in Northeast Gardening on

I’m sowing a few rows of carrots and some fennel, which I find are much tastier when they mature in fall, as long as I keep the young plants well watered. During the next two months,  I’ll sow daikon radish, beets, lettuce, broccoli rabe, an assortment of asian greens, and my favorite for overwintering- spinach. What are you working on for your fall garden, vegetable or otherwise?

As this is my first season with a large garden so I hope I have not missed the boat for the second round of planting. I am sowing beets, spinach and onions for a fall harvest.

When is your average first frost? We’re around September 21, but I may sow more spinach. I love having it return in spring!
