Today’s photos are from Janice LeCocq, of Sara Malone’s garden in Sonoma County, California. Janice says, “I recently finished a photo shoot at my friend, Sara Malone’s, wonderful garden.  She has started a blog called Form and Foliage.  I’m the photographer.  Here are three images shot on a cold foggy morning last week.  Sara has a unique plant selection and design philosophy that makes use of form and foliage to provide year round color and texture with minimal maintenance…or, as she says it, “on your schedule, not the plant’s”.  The muted light really shows a rich tapestry of color and texture in her garden.” Gorgeous, Janice! What a fascinating garden...it definitely looks environmentally friendly in being plant appropriate for the local rainfall and yet, there is nothing sparse about it. Sara has certainly achieved her goal of providing plenty of visual interest.
Now I'm off to her blog!

FANTASTIC! No weeding! No mowing! Rich, a wealth of interest! I love it.

The shot with the bench looks like a painting. Wonderful colors & textures.

I agree with the one poster who said the picture with the bench looked like a painting. I thought the same thing when I looked at it. Beautiful garden

I love the view to the sky past the arbor in the third shot. That is a technique used frequently at Hidcote Manor gardens. Great design!

This is so serenely beautiful!! The tapestry of soft yet deep colors, amazing texture, and harmonious composition - one of my favorite photos of the year!!! Great job, Sara - you are an artist of nature :-)

This is one beautiful garden and it's beautiful even with no flowers. Having my first house built and starting a garden from scratch. I will use a lot of ideas from this garden. Thank you for sharing!
