Designer David Feix in California took cues from the colors on this patio when choosing plants for this vignette. The orange tips of the blue-green agave (Agave sp.) match the low stucco wall, while the blooms of the shrimp plant (Justicia sp.) match the rusty red of the trellis. a blue-green lotus vine (Lotus berthelotii) ties them all together and softens the edges.

very well composed shot and brilliant design concept and explanation!

i find the bold thick trellis type panel a very effective element. try looking at the photo while holding 2 fingers in front of the panel. Now take away your fingers- shows you how valuable the panel element is in this vignette! the panel adds color and a unique shape, but as importantly, space and movement through the play of light and the see-through nature of the panel!
    best,
