The interesting thing about these mosaic-ed stair risers in Randy Bolin and Tom Nelson’s garden in Oakland, California, is that you don’t get to see them unless you explore the whole garden and then head back towards the house, when you face them head on. It’s a happy little surprise that’s just one of the charming elements that make this garden fascinating and memorable.

That is a great idea, that I plan on using. I have a lower garden that I want to add a bit of style to, on the return trip. Plus I have some extra tile that needs a new home.

Color in a garden doesn't have to come from the flowers. What an excellent idea! Thanks, guys!
