Today’s photos come from Maria Crawford.
I live about 40 miles west of Chicago, and we have seen a variety of weather events in the new year. I grew up in this area and truly relish experiencing all four seasons, even winter. There is an austere beauty that comes from the extreme elements when they express themselves.
I think of this time as a time to rest and rejuvenate with ideas for the upcoming gardening season. Here are a few photos of what I have seen recently. The final photos are of some cuttings and new starts from some things I propagated this weekend.

I soo miss the snow, so it's nice to at least see pictures. There's a quietness about it that's impossible to replicate. I'm dividing indoor plants like a lune, and am running out of window sills.
I enjoyed your artistic snow photos! After the riot of fall colors, winter's color scheme is quite a contrast but also beautiful, though more stark. Thank you for sharing these photos.
I enjoyed your photos. Taking a camera out always helps me see beauty that I would otherwise miss.
Beautiful photos! We are supposed to get snow this weekend & you have inspired me to suit up, get outside & take some pictures! Thank you for sharing!
Love your snow pics. I am deep south so snow is a rarity & much enjoyed when we do have it.
Wonderful and so artistic!!
You certainly managed to find the beauty in the starkness of winter. Great photos, but, personally, I still prefer spring and summer!
Love, love, love these photos - the delicate feathers in the snow - all so beautiful. And your photographer's assistant is a handsome gentleman!
Oh I almost missed this post! Love love love the winter photos!
Beautiful observations of winter captured with an artistic eye and a camera!
What a darling dog portrait in the snow on the path in the arched branches!
Ditto to all of the above! Simply marvelous photos, everyone! Thank you for taking the time to share with all of us!
