They’re ugly, they smell kind of bad, they’re well-worn–but I love them. Good for gardening, good for trying to make my way through the 4 foot snow drifts around my house, good if I’m trying to make a shocking fashion statement around the office. Eat your heart out Heidi Klum.

I love this picture! I have a favorite pair of mud boots, they are a funky mint green and I love slogging around in the wetlands on our property in them. They have also kept me from picking up ticks, the dreaded snake up the pantleg nightmare (okay, that never really happened but it is a fear of mine), and caused more than a few chuckles from bib-overalled farmers when I stand in front of them in the farm store check out line. I also keep a picture from a magazine clipped on my bulletin board of a pair of flowered boots that someday I hope will be mine. They seem a bit fancy for garden work but they are just so darn cute. Thanks for sharing the picture - for those of us who love to garden it tells it all.
