Dogwood Season

A favorite spring bloom

Today Angie Caruthers is sharing some beautiful photos of a favorite spring bloom.

It’s dogwood season in Northwest Arkansas, and I finally got some worthy photos of my pink dogwood (Cornus florida, Zones 5–9) during a beautiful Saturday morning sunrise. Enjoy!

dogwood flowersFlowering dogwoods are native to eastern North America, generally growing as understory trees lightly shaded by the taller trees around them. Their beautiful blooms have made them popular garden plants all over the world.

To the left is an emperor Japanese maple (Acer palmatum ‘Emperor’, Zones 5–9) in fresh, blazing red spring leaf.

Hi, Angie. Beautiful photography. I especially liked the close-ups, in situ views of the tree, and the scene of your very tidy back garden.

I don't ever remember seeing a pink Dogwood as gorgeous as this one- it's perfect!
You have a pretty house and I love those huge stones creating a curve in the corner of the fence and giving it gracefulness in a strong way.
Your patio setting with the furniture and outdoor rug is super nice!

Love dogwoods so very much - thanks for sharing these beauties! I have a native dogwood and a Kousa that I planted 2 years ago but neither have bloomed yet. I am holding prayer services to that end.... : )
