Gifts for the Gardener

DrPulte_Moderator | Posted in Southeast Gardening on

We should help each other out!  What are your top gifts for the other gardeners in your life!

FYI I will put some of my favorites in the comments: I’m not sponsored by any brands, these are just what I am using and loving right now.

A good saw is one of my favorite tools: Silky is my current favorite brand. Any other good saws gardeners love?

The CobraHead weeder is also one of my main tools in the garden:

I often give my gardening friends a subscription to Fine Gardening magazine and I also like to give gift certificates to some of our great local nurseries. Classic gardening books such as those by North Carolina gardening great Elizabeth Lawrence are good for helping to get through the winter while also inspiring ideas.

I think Japanese gardening tools make great gifts. They are high quality and you can often find things for more specialized tasks that are not widely available in the US.

Honestly, a gift certificate to a local nursery would be amazing! Or a new compost bin.. I've also had my eye on these Lomi kitchen composters and I wonder how well they work. Does anyone have any experience with them? https://lomi.com/products/lomi

I have seen those, and perhaps for someone in a urban environment they would work well.

Seed company gift certificates for me, please! It's the perfect time of the year to receive and use them. Instant gift gratification.

I love dreaming and planning this time of year! Perfect time to be thinking about seed planting!

This is cracking me up!! I am usually writing about gifts for gardeners. I love the idea of gift cards for seed companies. Excellent! My top two tools of all time? A hori hori knife and those pop-up/collapsible leaf bags (the last one I bought was from Fiskars).

I need to go check out that Lomi composter, too.

    Keep up the lists!

I've not used the leaf bag like that but I know they are popular - maybe this is my year!

I see houseplant lovers and apartment dwellers use potting mats - like this one I have below.

I might get one just to save soil when I repot stuff outdoors. Soil/Media products have gotten so expensive. What do others do to save potting soil?
