How to make peach trees grow fruit?

| Posted in Southeast Gardening on

My peach and nectarine trees have not been producing as much fruit these past few years. I’m wondering if I’m pruning them wrong or if there could be some other reason? In the past, I’ve made preserves for the holidays for friends and family, but I have not been able to recently, and I’d really love to be able to do so again!

Stone fruit is a wonderful addition to the garden. It is very difficult to grow stone fruit in the Southeastern U.S. without active management. This time of year that includes making sure old fruit and leaves are removed from the area. Before bloom you should be thinking about spraying if you want high quality stone fruit.

Here is a University of Tennessee publication that gives some good information.
