Ruby grass (Melinus nerviglumis)

This gray-green, graceful grass is a wonderful, visually soothing addition to summer gardens. The pink blooms begin to appear on arching stems in spring and last through late summer. Also known as pink crystals, this grass prefers full sun and well-drained soil. It is only hardy in USDA Hardiness Zones 9 to 11, but it can be grown as an annual in colder climates. Its foliage turns a subtle red in fall.
