Bought this plant in seed packet, as an annual, only half came up, replanted and just a few more germinated. Plants seem hardy and is finally trailing up my trellis. Pretty color and flower. They are in part sun/shade and seem happy. Are the pods edible? And what is the difference between perennial and annual hyacinth? Ontario Canada

This is one of my favorite plants. They are just absolutely beautiful climbers and even the seed pods are nice to look at. Strangers will stop by and ask what they are and I wind up giving them seeds. A trellis climber at its best. I had an orange bean runner but I've lost the seeds to that one. I've never seen another orange one but it was just as beautiful

What isn't to like? Blooms on after it starts (you can deadhead to get more if you like), looks wonderful mixed with cardinal or cypress vine, is mannerly, has wonderful purple beans, when they dry, are easy to shell for seeds for next year and is easy to grow. Also an excellent vine for a pot. One of the best.
