Noteworthy characteristics: Colorful spires of 5-lobed, hooded blossoms with backward-pointing spurs.
Care: Grow in fertle, moist, but well-drained soil in full sun. May stop blooming during hot summers. Shear the spent stems to produce another flush of blooms.
Propagation: Sow seed when fresh or in early spring; take softwood cuttings in spring or semi-ripe cuttings in summer. Easy to overwinter in a greenhouse.
Problems: Slugs, snails.
