Botanical Name: Dicentra spectabilis 'Gold Heart' dy-SEN-trah spek-TAB-il-iss Common Name: Bleeding heart, Lyre flower Genus: Dicentra

Golden yellow foliage emerges from the ground in early spring and is soon accompanied by rosy-pink broken hearts that open in succession for nearly a month as the stems elongate.
Noteworthy characteristics: Golden foliage. Leaves may aggravate skin allergies.
Care: Grow in fertile, well-drained slightly alkaline soil in partial to full shade. Allow to self-sow. Cut back after foliage yellows and withers. 
Propagation: Sow seeds in cold frame when ripe; divide in spring.
Problems: Slugs and snails can attack new foliage. Powdery mildew, rust, fungal leaf spot, and verticillium wilt.

at first I was a little concerned about the color looking so different but I have come to love this plant . I have one in a garden that gets part sun in the morning sandwiched between two hydranga's and in the shade it is just stunning . A very healthy plant for me with foliage that does not decline as fast as the typical dicentra . I have had it now for three years and each year it has gotten better . great plant
