Botanical Name: Daphne × transatlantica 'Summer Ice' DAF-nee ex tranz-at-LAN-tih-kah Genus: Daphne
This rounded shrub has leaves with white margins, and pale pink star-shaped flowers that bloom in the spring, fall, and sometimes in between.  The blossoms release an intoxicating fragrance. 
Noteworthy characteristics: Soft pink flowers with strong fragrance. Sap may irritate skin; all plant parts are toxic if ingested.
Care: Site in a permanent location in sun or part shade and organically rich, well-drained soil that does not dry out. Mulch to keep roots cool.
Propagation: Take softwood cuttings in early summer and hardwood cuttings in late summer.
Problems: Aphids, scale insects, fasciation, Southern blight, tobacco ringspot virus, Verticillium wilt, rots, and Botrytis twig blight are all common.

This choice rose has single, gently cupped light-pink flowers that exude an intense, clove-scented perfume. It blooms in spring and sporadically throughout the season, and produces red hips. In autumn, the foliage turns deep maroon, which changes to yellow tinged with coppery highlights. It grows to 3 to 4 feet high and wide.
