Plant hardiness surprises?

Chloe_Moderator | Posted in Northeast Gardening on

As gardeners, we are often in the front row for observing changes in the climate. Are there any plants that you can grow in your zone now that you were once unable to?
For my part, I saw Carolina jessamine (gelsemium sempervirens) and American beautyberry (callicarpa americana) growing in a garden in my area this year, which surprised me because neither had been reliable for me in the past. I’m inspired to risk trying them again. Here’s a picture of an unexpected survivor in my herb garden, Greek mountain tea (sideritis syriaca) for attention!
