Multiplying plants

marti_n_midwest_moderator | Posted in Midwest Gardening on

I find every spring has it’s own personality and this year is no different.  We had some mild temps late this winter and were able to get out and start some early renovation pruning.  This gave us the opportunity to see what was coming up sooner than normal.  Now that the grasses are cut back it is obvious which ones must be dug and divided to clean out their dead centers.  While the work can be challenging, the resulting additional plants are a bonus and an opportunity to either create a new space, or fill in existing ones.  Trust me, I won’t stop at the grasses, I have a mass of daylilies awaiting as well.

What plants in your garden are  in need of division?  Do you plan to keep them or share?
