Favorite Plant of the Season?

Is there a particular plant or plant combination that is emblematic of each season for you that you look forward to each year? For me, summer is represented by purple coneflower; fall is asters and goldenrod; in winter, I look forward to winter blooming witch hazels; while spring is defined by ephemerals like trilliums and bloodroot. What are your favorite plants each season?
