Pallavi’s Garden

By Alexandra Dittrich

Pallavi welcomes friends, family, butterflies, and passersby alike to enjoy her garden.

"I live in Illinois in a suburb called Naperville . Chicago weather as everyone knows, we almost have 5-6 months of cold climate so summer really plays a special role for us. I enjoy my garden work—digging, watering, weeding, fertilizing, and those endless things you do to see those beautiful blooms.  I wait for spring to see the first blooms of crocus, daffodils, and then all those pink, white, red, and yellow tulips adding color to the garden which was otherwise dull with winter cold. Irises in purple, blu , white, yellow, and red then add their own glamor. Summer blooms are gorgeous with peonies in white, pink, and magenta; roses in red, orange, pink, purple, white, and yellow; and daylilies in yellow, orange, and red. Daisies grow wild near the mailbox greeting our mailman daily. I never imagined myself being such a passionate vivid gardener but when I see the results of my hard work, I do take pride in my efforts I put in to make this lovely nature around me more beautiful with colors, vibrant enough to get lots of compliments from friends and passersby.  It has become a place to visit for birds, butterflies, bees, and tiny little insects, making everyone happy in return. That's Pallavi's garden!"

Very nice. I particularly like the mail box plantings.

Your front entry area is very welcoming...not just with the colorful plantings but the generously curved steps to the front door. Those happy faces on such an exuberant clump of daisies down by the roadside would give almost anyone a smile and a good feeling. No doubt, your successful gardening efforts make your neighborhood a better place.

Those cheerful daisies look wonderful around your mailbox! Did you make your "garden globe"? Looks like you've created a very happy place!

I also like the "urn" that elevates the petunias. You have planted something for every season- well done!

The rewards of garden labor are really reinforcing, aren't they? Your German iris are beautiful and those daisies turn your mailbox into a focal point.

You have created a feast for the eyes and your neighbors must really appreciate you but the satisfaction of seeing your hard work pay off is the true benefit of gardening. That was good use of a fallen tree in your 'pot' garden:)

Alright - maximizing the season, even if it comes with a bit of brevity. So pleased to hear you discovered that gardening is without a doubt its own reward. And your colorful display is quite a prize for all. I gotta celebrate the stumps as pot stands; I do it all the time - my kind of aesthetic recycling. The iris are quite striking. Thanks for sharing.
