The benefits of knowing how to propagate plants from tip cuttings are endless. You can make more of your favorite plants for almost no money. You can take cuttings from many tender perenials such as phlox, nepeta (catnip), and lavender in the fall and save them for the following spring. And taking cuttings is way easier than dividing, so you can be more generous with your friends.
