I would love to have the fence. Now just find old windows.

Vicki, I enjoyed your photos very much! Would love to see more photos. Your opening photo was especially enticing. Love that fence, also. What is your feature tree in your side garden?

    1. user-7008741 07/12/2017

The tree in the photo with the border is a hydrangea Tree.

Good morning, Vicki. What a fun garden. I love the first photo of the patio. What a beautiful garden vignette you created. The bicycle against the awesome fence is quite eye catching. Thanks for sharing.

Good morning Kevin. Are you on Facebook? I was on the Gloucester garden tour over the weekend and have posted a bunch of pictures of it...if you want to see them, you can friend me on Facebook . You can find me as Lily Jacobi
My profile pic is a photo of the Holstee Manifesto with a black and white racing flag on a green wall. That's how you'll know that it's me!

Your garden is my favorite type of garden to find on a garden tour! So much fun!

Hi,, when you moved in 4 years ago, what was the first gardening project you embarked on? building the adorable garden shed? putting in the raised bed at the corner of the house? Your property situation which seems to include large, mature trees is very appealing and inspiring. It has the feeling of a gracious park and is very conducive to wanting to plant favorite hostas and just enjoy being outside.

So nice. It's easy to toss cool finds around and make things look junky; you've done the opposite. Looks great. Love the pops of color and the dry-stacked stone retainer.

Love, love, love everything. Is that a banana tree near the adorable shed? I didn't think those would survive in Illinois.

    1. user-7008741 07/12/2017

It is a banana tree. It lives in the basement in the winter.

Delightful and full of interest. Now I know what to do with the bicycle I can no longer ride- perfect. Love the way your little shed sits thru an entry, it welcomes one into the courtyard.
The big trees are simply gorgeous. I'm with Lily re the garden tour preference.
    Thank you Vicki.

Good morning Vicki, All of your gardens are terrific & the 1st photo is perfect. There is something special about a bicycle in the garden that draws attention & yours with the baskets in that setting that makes it just perfect. I hope to see more photos of your garden art & plant combinations in the future.
    Good luck, Joe

Good morning, Vicki. Your garden reminds me of my childhood summers with big shade trees, soft green grass to lay on and lots of hosta. I love what you did with your shed and fence and I'm guessing that this is just the start. Keep us posted on all of your new creative projects and thanks for sharing.

  13. user-7008735 07/12/2017

I love the playful vibe of your garden, Vicki. I especially like the repetition of the curves in the table and chairs, bicycle, fence-top, and of course, all the pots. Your Hostas look so happy and healthy!

  14. user-6536305 07/12/2017

Love this post! Is it a mirror on the fence or a opening on the fence on your cover photo? Thanks for sharing.

    1. user-7008741 07/12/2017

It is a mirror. I found it on the curb.

  15. inesmalardino 07/12/2017

So fun and so cute! Love the colors and the bicycle is so French. Fabulous...

  16. digginWA 07/12/2017

Very inviting, Vicki. I like how the landscape works with the classic brick ranch. And of course you had me at red. I have some faded black metal mesh furniture that I was thinking about having powder coated. This inspires me.

I love your style - very much like my own. I would love to see more pictures. Thanks so much for sharing.

Yours is such a happy garden Vicki!

  19. user-7007125 07/13/2017

so welcoming much to discover. I'm sure the birds and butterflies feel very at home in your garden. The mysteries of a garden are so fun to find, that rock you dragged back from a camping trip, that hidden little fern that with attention you have kept alive. You know a real garden freak when the go explore your garden!
