Some plant combos just can’t be planned. In the garden of Sabrina and Freeland Tanner in Napa, California, it was just pure luck that this clematis vine wandered into the euphorbia and they decided to bloom together. It might not be a match anyone would have thought up, but it sure works.

Welcome to the Fine Gardening GARDEN PHOTO OF THE DAY blog! Every weekday we post a new photo of a great garden, a spectacular plant, a stunning plant combination, or any number of other subjects. Think of it as your morning jolt of green.

serendipity is one of the most delightful things about gardening! lovely lovely combo, reminding many of us that clematis-as-groundcover is a design concept well worth pursuing.
