I’m always jealous of the superiority of the window boxes and container gardens in the south. Their longer season seems to allow for much more luxuriant growth and more use of perennial plants. Does anyone have favorite perennials that easily overwinter in boxes the Northeast? As a rule of thumb, I use perennials that are at least a zone hardier than my own, but I’m still always a bit reluctant to experiment with them because they’re pricier than annuals.
