Hardening off those precious plants

We are quickly approaching last frost in my area, and that means it’s time to start exposing our coddled vegetables and annuals to the harsh realities of the garden. I think the number one issue I see in my local garden groups is a rush to plant without gradually exposing tender plants to the sun and wind. So here’s a PSA to take your time getting your babies out there. Start in the shade for a few days, then gradually add a few hours of sun every couple of days. There’s not much sadder than a fried tray of plants! The same goes for any houseplants you may be putting out for a summer vacation. Easy does it!
