"Tropical Storm' elephant ear (Colocasia esculenta 'Tropical Storm')
kol-oh-KAY-shah ess-kew-LEN-tah

Compact, quick to clump grower that will reach about 30" tall. Each dark, black-purple leaf is marked by a creamy-white blaze in the center. Talk about high contrast! Colocasia 'Tropical Storm' thrives in rich, moist soil where it will put on a shocking show all summer long. Elephant ears love heat and moisture. Excellent as the focal point in a container or in very shallow water at the edge of a water garden. The white blaze does not show on young plants, so don't be alarmed if your plant is solid black when it arrives. Give it heat, fertilizer, lots of water, and time to do its thing.

Noteworthy Characteristics:

Composed of purple-black foliage which is adorned in summer with a prominent central creamy white streak.

Care:

The key to growing big plants is water, nutrients, and warmth. Colocasias are heavy feeders and respond favorably to a rich, organic soil.
