Sweet Pets
My honeybees are definitely sweet pets. Sweet pollinators and sweet treat providers. I love working with them at the hives and watching them flit among the flowers when I work in my gardens.
Chief Whitefeather
Chief Whitefeather is our eight year old Rhode Island Red rooster. He has always had a tuft of white feathers in his tail.
Fishy Water and Other Delights in the Garden
Gardening through their eyes gives me a different viewpoint. One I would not want to be without!
Best Friends
There is a special beauty in the love we share with our pets.
Garden Guardians
In zone 8 we rarely see a white winter wonderland, but our garden guardians always bring a smile and the promise of colors and aromas soon to come.
Winter Anticipation
Here in Georgia, zone 8, we rarely have white winter wonderlands. For winter pleasure we rely on sudden pops of color that cheer our morning walks or a much anticipated fragrance that lures us out...

Re: Fine Gardening's "Signs of Spring" Contest: Official Rules
Thanks, Kate, for making that clear. I really enjoy looking at all the photos. These contests are great even if I never win a thing.

Dear Editors, In reference to the contest rules statement,"All entries become the property of the Sponsor". Does this mean you have the right to sell my photos and does this mean I do not have the right to sell photos entered in the contest? Could you clarify your rights as property owner and what my rights to the photos becomes with submission of them?

I can sympathise with this. My Basenji is a real digger and often a costly one too. She has on more than one occassion destroyed an afternoon's work or as in recently, an entire growing season in my bog garden. I am waiting for warm weather to see what survived. Wish she could tell me what she was after.

HI, I am a daylily lover also. I live in Georgia, zone 8, hard rocky clay soil, and they never let me down. I have over 100 varieties, all free, given to me by someone who had a daylily farm that went out of business. All you had to do was show up and dig them up. Believe me, they made my garden. I am intrigued by the pink flower on the left side of the top photo. Could you tell me what it is? I have been toying with getting the seed for a plant called Kiss-me-over-the-gate which looks very much like this. If it is, I am sold. If not, I would like to look into this one! Thanks for sharing your photos.

I love the pink flowers. Could you please identify it for me? Is it a cosmos or coreopsis of some type? Looks like it would be a good candidate for a cottage garden. The adirondack chairs are fabulous. I have that same Ruella. I think that is what I am seeing. A wild petunia. It is native here in North Georgia, zone 7B, and I have gathered it for my gardens. It self seeds wonderfully and is so tolerant of the drought we have been having for the last several years. Thanks for sharing your pictures.
