I purchased several of these from Home Depot. Campanula, for sure. The cultivar ... no idea as they were unlabeled. These are double blueish lavendar, about 2.5' (haven't measured...
Japanese Type Peony -- The Cultivar ??
For the life of me, I can not remember the name of this culitvar. It's blooming now -- zone 5b, Maine. I would say it's an earlier blooming peony as all of my others are still in bud...

Thanks for all of the comments, it's fun trying to figure out a puzzle. This is a campanula cultivar, no doubt. I knew that when I posted, just trying to determine which one. Still thinking "La Belle".

Thank you .. looks like lisianthus, but I do think it's campanula .. "La Belle". I had seen the photos online, but the color was off -- darker than mine, and shorter. However, after looking again, and finding more images, I think you are correct. La Belle, nice to meet you.

This looks like Browallia to me (in annual in my neck of the woods) ..
posted: 10:35 am on June 29thHere's a bit more info:
SPECIES. Browallia speciosa (major) grows about 18 inches tall as usually grown in pots. The flowers are violet blue, 11/2 inches to 2 inches across.
Browallia elata (demissa) (americana) also has violet-blue flowers but they are about half the size of the above species
Re: Can anyone tell me what this is?
Reminds me of woodland phlox.

Sorry .. meant to clarify .. to be more precise, it's the anther color that seems wrong for a pear .. and again, just based upon the cultivars I am familiar with. Again .. see the images I describe in the previous posting. Good luck .. mysteries can be so fun !

I'm thinking this is a crabapple. It's not an ornamental pear as the color of the stamens would not be correct. Some ornamental pears do not produce fruit or if so, they may one year and not the next. I have 2 closeup photos of both an ornamental pear & a crabapple ...

(these can be found in the "Garden Shots") folder .. as of today, near the bottom of the grouping .. right next to purple tulips.
Or, just search my photostream for crabapple ... pear ..
