Re: May: Lily of the Valley

When I turned 16 my dad planted Lily of the Valley below my bedroom window. I thought is was sweet at the time but as the years allowed the plants to develop - the heady scent reminded me each May that I was loved by my mom and dad. After moving on to my adult life and living in three houses without Lily of the Valley, I planted some from those my daughter had in her yard and now - once again - I feel very special when they send their shoots through the earth and especially when they ring in the memory of my dad's special gift.

They are a great Mother's Day gift and for anyone born in May.

Re: I'm in love with my mud boots

I love this picture! I have a favorite pair of mud boots, they are a funky mint green and I love slogging around in the wetlands on our property in them. They have also kept me from picking up ticks, the dreaded snake up the pantleg nightmare (okay, that never really happened but it is a fear of mine), and caused more than a few chuckles from bib-overalled farmers when I stand in front of them in the farm store check out line. I also keep a picture from a magazine clipped on my bulletin board of a pair of flowered boots that someday I hope will be mine. They seem a bit fancy for garden work but they are just so darn cute. Thanks for sharing the picture - for those of us who love to garden it tells it all.
