Re: Beth's garden in Iowa, Day 3--Attracting wildlife

Beth, you've created a bird lovers/gardeners paradise. Nice photo's and I'm sure you were pleased all those birds/critters just sat there waiting to be photographed. I thought that the seeds from the bird food would get into the grassy areas and send up weeds???? No problems with that?

Re: Julie's garden in British Columbia, Day 2

I'm a bit late in checking out the latest photo's, but Julie they are wonderful. You had a awesome, unique garden. I just love the idea's you have used with found objects to add a great twist and interest to your garden. It is just so charming. What a wonderful neighbor, too, to offer up a portion of their yard for you to grow veggies.

Re: Karen's no-lawn front yard in California

Karen, I wish I could do something more like that in my front yard. Unfortunately, my association feels that grass is what belongs in front of our homes. You are off to a wonderful start and I like what I see. I, too, am a rookie gardener and know that trial and error is how we learn. Great job.

Re: Tricia's garden in Minnesota, revisited

What a beautiful garden. It's hard for me to imagine that someone could do all that themselves. Your photo's certainly uplifted me on this cold, but sunny day in IL. Just stunning and your home is too!

Re: Dorothy's garden in Maryland

Gorgeous daylillies. Just love the color. I've struggled with climatis for several years and finally got them to bloom for me after about 5 years!!! Most everyone else seems to find them so easy.

Re: Carol's garden in Michigan

The color combinations in the garden are just glorious, Linda. Great shots too. I've had some fun vacations in Michigan. Thank you for sharing your memories with us.

Re: Linda & Terry's garden in Ontario

Re: Calvin's garden in Washington state

What a naturally, beautiful area, Calvin. You done a remarkable job as it looks like it has always been that way. Just like Mother Nature wanted.

Re: More from Jeff's garden in Tennessee

Those pots with the bangs are just so funny! I have not seen them at any nurseries here in the midwest. Does anyone know where they can be purchased? Jeff, your photo's are wonderful. You do a great job.

Re: The Case of the Rapidly Diminishing Hedge Apples

That is the strangest looking squirrel I have ever seen!!!!! Looks more like an alligator, but you live in Connecticut, right????? If it's a decoy, it's not working.......

Re: Gardens in Guatemala

What a riot of color. Just gorgeous. Thank you for sharing.

Re: Zach's garden in Panama

Just can't begin to imagine having all these beautiful flowers and gardens all year long. Thanks so much for sharing with us during our cold weather here in IL. Your garden is lovely.

Re: Hunter's design in New Mexico

Beautiful and serene. Makes perfect sense to take advantage of drought tolerant plants especially with so many locations around the country are experiencing this.

Re: Helene's garden in Ontario

What a change you have made. You've truly turned your backyard into wonderful get away. The colors combo's are smashing!

Re: Happy 3rd Birthday to the GPOD!!

Congratulations. Can't begin to tell you how much looking at these beautiful gardens lights up my day! These gardens make an especially cold, winter day brighter not to mention my yearning for Spring so I can start digging!

Re: Brenda's holiday garden decorations in Georgia, Day 1

Really, really beautiful. Reminds me of a special wonderland. You really inspire me to do more winter pots for the holidays in my yard. The stonework detailing on your home is really lovely.

Re: Barb's garden in Wisconsin, revisited

I am also a big fan of the ladyslippers in WI. We lived there at one time and they grew naturally in our woods. We called it Ladyslipper Hill. Also, I am interested in those plant markers that you have. They look very durable. Wondering what they are made of and where you got them? Your garden is so lovely, especially the water feature. Thanks for sharing.

Re: READER PHOTOS! Kiah's garden in British Columbia

Nicely done, Kiah. Your efforts have certainly paid off beautifully.

Re: Gregg & Kindra's deer-friendly garden in Ohio

Boy, I'm good! I found that frog right away. There is something to be said about watching wildlife, they are just enchanting to watch. Your yard is lovely. You've had a lot of ground to cover and have done a wonderful job of it.

Re: READER PHOTOS! Wildlife in Irvin & Pauline's garden in California

AWESOME!

Re: Darryl's garden in Antarctica

Thank you so much, Darryl. This was so interesting. I imagine having the ability to do gardening in such a harsh environment really lifts the spirits, plus having fresh veggies you have grown yourself is uplifting.

Re: READER PHOTOS! Michaele's container gardens in Tennessee

I just LOVE LOVE LOVE succulents in pots! You have done a wonderful job Michaela. The little touches add a whimsical feeling to the pots. You've given me inspiration to give them a try.

Re: READER PHOTOS! Veneeta's garden in India

It's so much fun to see other people's gardens, especially when they are in other countries. I am a big fan of succulents too. Very nice job.

Re: Book Giveaway: Container Gardening for All Seasons

Container gardening can add so much color to an area regardless where they are placed. Wonderful books like this give so many helpful hints about color, plant combinations, etc. I like to have multiple pots going in various spots. I need all the help that I can get. Thanks.

Re: READER PHOTOS! Betsy's garden in New York

Betsy, your garden is wonderful. You have set a high bar for your neighbors. I do hope it's contagious. I know I would enjoy sitting outdoors and looking out at that yard. Simply gorgeous.

Re: READER PHOTOS! Veronica's garden in New Hampshire

What a wonderful job you both have done! Now this is what I call reclaiming the land. Truly awesome.

Re: READER PHOTOS! Cindi's garden in Pennsylvania

What a great way to do vertical gardening!! I just love the idea of recycling all the old farm equipment.

Re: 2012 Garden Conservancy Open Days: Win a Pair of Free Tickets

I would love to see the Old Mill Farm in Lake Forest, IL. It was originally designed by Jens Jensen and world renown garden architect. I would also love to see House of Four Winds, also in Lake Forest, IL. This 1900 year old estate has gardens inspired by Alhambra in Granada, Spain! Can't wait.....
