Re: Beth's garden in Iowa, Day 3--Attracting wildlife
Beth, you've created a bird lovers/gardeners paradise. Nice photo's and I'm sure you were pleased all those birds/critters just sat there waiting to be photographed. I thought that the seeds from the bird food would get into the grassy areas and send up weeds???? No problems with that?

I'm a bit late in checking out the latest photo's, but Julie they are wonderful. You had a awesome, unique garden. I just love the idea's you have used with found objects to add a great twist and interest to your garden. It is just so charming. What a wonderful neighbor, too, to offer up a portion of their yard for you to grow veggies.

Karen, I wish I could do something more like that in my front yard. Unfortunately, my association feels that grass is what belongs in front of our homes. You are off to a wonderful start and I like what I see. I, too, am a rookie gardener and know that trial and error is how we learn. Great job.

What a beautiful garden. It's hard for me to imagine that someone could do all that themselves. Your photo's certainly uplifted me on this cold, but sunny day in IL. Just stunning and your home is too!

Gorgeous daylillies. Just love the color. I've struggled with climatis for several years and finally got them to bloom for me after about 5 years!!! Most everyone else seems to find them so easy.

Those pots with the bangs are just so funny! I have not seen them at any nurseries here in the midwest. Does anyone know where they can be purchased? Jeff, your photo's are wonderful. You do a great job.

I am also a big fan of the ladyslippers in WI. We lived there at one time and they grew naturally in our woods. We called it Ladyslipper Hill. Also, I am interested in those plant markers that you have. They look very durable. Wondering what they are made of and where you got them? Your garden is so lovely, especially the water feature. Thanks for sharing.

I would love to see the Old Mill Farm in Lake Forest, IL. It was originally designed by Jens Jensen and world renown garden architect. I would also love to see House of Four Winds, also in Lake Forest, IL. This 1900 year old estate has gardens inspired by Alhambra in Granada, Spain! Can't wait.....
