Thanks for the article about mulching roses. I have roses that have been planted for several years. Last year, following another article of yours, I added compost and covered the compost with mulch.

It isn't clear to me from your article what should be done on an annual basis, once the roses have been established and previously mulched:

1. Add a layer of compost, then add mulch?

2. Add mulch only?

3. Add compost only?
