Re: READER PHOTOS! Cindi's garden in Pennsylvania
What an incredible reuse of containers. My first impression was that it was one of those plant walls and it was but not of the type I thought. Is it difficult to water? My mom lives in Penn Hall in Chambersburg so you aren't far from me here in MD. Happy gardening!

Your arrangements are an inspiration to me. Such gorgeous pots too.

What a lovely assortment. I recognize lots of those plants. My chives are flowering now too! I awoke to my deep purple iris open in its glory out my bedroom window. I love this time of year.

The first scene is my favorite with the heron statue amongst the hostas. Lovely job you've done there.
posted: 6:32 am on April 9thThanks to all of the nice comments on my GPOD on Thursday. I was away so didn't get to catch up until Saturday. For those who asked the clematis is Ernest Markham - with magenta flowers. The buds are forming on it now as it climbs the tuteur. I do have a blog if you want to check progress in my garden. http://birdsbloomsbooksetc.blogspot.com/

Hello fellow Marylander. I bet you enjoy sitting around that fountain on a warm summer evening.

It is lovely, truly lovely. Years ago when I worked in DC I remember that the Smithsonian would give away the tulips bulbs that had bloomed because as Brenda does they treated them as annuals. I did plant some from them in that first house of mine and they came up the next year but dwindled through the years. I'll stick to the bulbs that multiply and spread each year, but will enjoy looking at Brenda's and others who plant them and share their photos.

I love those red tulips. I'd love to take a walk in your garden on a warm spring day. Thanks for almost getting me there with your photos. Alas I can't plant tulips. The deer would devour them. I am satisfied with daffodils.

An amazing garden for an amazing woman. I'll have to check out your blog for sure. I really liked the little surprise elements like the crocodile.

Lovely combinations. I wonder if Sheila can tell me how she winters over her succulents in the pots? I left mine out here in MD but up against the house for extra warmth. Some are looking fine but not sure about others.

Isn't it nice to have your own nursery to transplant from? I too have raided the forest for ferns. It's on my list to transplant some holly and barberry this year. Lovely garden paths through lush plantings! I wish my astillbe would get that big.

Love that variety of hostas. It's something I'm striving for on the edge of the woodland here. We are visiting British Columbia in May and look forward to seeing some of the fine gardens there.

Re: READER PHOTOS! Tim's garden in Ohio, Day 3: This and that
I look forward to the day when my heucheras are as large as Tim's. There's hope since it's one of the few plants the deer don't bother here ... or at least they don't bother the leaves. I have had them nibble the flowers.

We are still awaiting our first measurable snow here in Maryland. It doesn't seem like winter when the temps go up into the 60ºs.

posted: 8:10 am on January 10thThanks, too for all the nice comments. And yes that large leaved hosta is I believe an August lily. Liking how the large leaves of this hosta looked along the glen edge I bought another large leaf variety (whose name escapes me as I write this) which I planted to the left of the stacked cedar stumps. They will reach their maximum size in years to come. Something to look forward to.

Re: READER PHOTOS! Marilyn's golden garden backdrop
I'm getting some of the same views from my study window. The golds here are the beech trees in the woods. The poplars have mostly lost their leaves and the maples and oaks were not much in the way of color providers this year because of the rain. They mostly went to brown and dropped their leaves.

Re: READER PHOTOS! Leslie's garden in Colorado Springs
Lovely. You'd never know from the photos that its as small as she describes. I know about her deer troubles. I have those here in MD but fortunately they respond to Liquid Fence spraying and eat the woods that surround me.
