Re: Healthy Skepticism for a Healthy Garden - Win A Free Copy of The Informed Gardener!

When I was little, my neighbor told us kids that the money plant grew from pennies. She would let us pick the pretty white seed pods and we would "buy" a cookie and lemonade from her. Also, my brother planted watermelon seeds and a huge watermelon appeared one morning - courtesy of our neighbor. Not quite the myths that you are talking about - but wonderful plant fairy tales!

Re: Viburnum Questions

M beloved Viburnum juddii died last year - after a slow branch by branch death. The only problem I could identify were viburnum aphids, which I treated. Is there a common problem that would cause the dieback and eventual death?
Thank you.

Re: Mystery Woodland Plant

Defintely NOT Saruma Henryi. I've had them for years and the habit, leaf and yellow flower are different than the pictures.

Re: Part I -- When The Well Runs Dry

I'l have to save this article for a rainy day - OPPS!! We can't seem to get a break from the rain in the Northeast. Mosquitos, runaway gardens and too-wet diseases are rampant this summer. Like us gardeners like to say...."You should have seen it last........."
Thanks for the tips.

Re: Any idea what this is?

Interesting little info about pronunciation. Most gardeners pronounce it nih-FOH-feeah. I read somewhere it was named after a man named Kah-nip-hahf and is pronounced Kah-nip-HOF-eeah. Anybody else know or Kah-no!) anything about pronunciation?

Re: What is this cute little flower?

Schizanthus is such a beautiful flower - but the plants fizzle out in the heat of the summer - so make sure it will last all summer if you grow them for full season effect.

We've done stone walls, stone paths, mosaics, trellises, brick edging,....oh yes, lots of gardening. But there's always another project to inspire us - especially by Sean Conway!!!
