Grew up all over the NorthEast, and the midwest, but spent my summers on the farm of my Grandfather and Grandmothers in the Tri-State area of NY State. Those Summers were like a breath of fresh country air, working and gardening in that beautiful part of America. My Granny used to teach me how to start seeds and plant the new seedlings into the cool moist, and rich soil. The great feeling of growing our own food was so cool growing up in the 50's and 60's. On the farm you didn't use anything chemical then, you used what you had, which finally turned into Organic Gardening around the world. After all,if you're gonna do it {Vegtable Gardening} why not do it right from the start,Granny would say. If you have weeds, then get down on your knees and weed by hand, and turn the soil occasionably. Haven't forgotten what she said and did, and it still works today.

Re: Win a copy of Designer Plant Combinations!

I have long said less is More and this book finally tells us how, and where. Also the concept of texture when your potting up theses jewels.Color yes.but texture should always be there when there are no blooms. This is not only a book of imformation, but a book on art, and how you bring art into the garden. If I don't win, I will deffenitely want to buy this beauty!!!GlennPosh
