This is an outstanding species of Goldenrod. It is very easy to grow and looks great in both formal and prairie settings. If grown in a more formal setting you might want to add something to hide the lower foliage as the growing season progresses. It typically blooms from mid-August through September/October. Though it will self seed, it is not weedy, aleopathic, and invasive like its cousin, Canada Goldenrod. Goldenrod of any species DO NOT cause hay fever. The pollen is too heavy to move on air currents like ragweed pollen which blooms at the same time.

Goldenrod is considered a weed in my area in Ohio. Many folks think it contributes to their alergies. Personally I don't mind it, but also do not encourage it.
