Botanical Name: Nigella damascena and cvs. ny-JEL-lah dam-ah-SEE-nah Common Name: Love-in-a-mist, Devil-in-a-bush Genus: Nigella
Love-in-a-mist-bears delicate flowers 1.5 inches across in various shades of blue and white, surrounded by finely divided foliage. Blooms appear mainly in May and June, and sporadically throughout the summer, followed by attractive 1-inch-wide green seedpods that change to cream and burgundy over time.
 Noteworthy characteristics: Self-sows. Seedpods can be dried for arrangements.
 Care: Does not transplant well, so grow from seed in situ in any well-drained soil in full sun.
 Propagation: Sow seeds in full sun and well-drained soil in spring.
 Problems: Infrequent.
Height 1 ft. to 3 ft.
Spread 6 in. to 12 in.
