Botanical Name: Lathyrus tingitanus Common Name: Tangier pea Genus: Lathyrus
A vigorous grower, this plant climbs by grasping tendrils, reaching 10 feet high. It has sweet-pea-like flowers and lacy foliage composed of pairs of leaflets.
Care: Provide support or grow through shrubs or small trees. Heat tolerant. Sow seed in cool weather in rich soil with excellent drainage.
Propagation: Sow seed in containers in a cold frame or in situ in early spring. Pre-soak or chip seed to hasten germination.
Problems: Pythium root rot, powdery mildew, rust, gray mold, birds, slugs, snails, aphids and thrips.
Height 3 ft. to 6 ft.
