Botanical Name: Hosta ‘August Moon’ HOSS-tah Genus: Hosta
This large and vigorous mounding hosta reaches 20 to 24 inches tall and 36 to 42 inches wide. Heart-shaped, cupped, puckered, pale green leaves provide interesting and attractive texture. Bell-shaped, grayish white flowers are borne on 28-inch-long scapes from mid-July through early August.
Noteworthy characteristics: Easy to grow and adaptable. Excellent edging and massing plant.
Care: Grow in moist but well-drained, fertile soil. Shade tolerant. Tolerates drought, but a summer mulch is beneficial. Prefers only four to five hours of morning light but will grow in full sun.
Propagation: Divide plants in late summer or early spring.
Problems: Slugs and snails. In containers, watch for vine weevil. Also viruses and foliar nematodes.

‘Autumn Bride’ is one of the best cultivars of the species H. villosa. The large, fuzzy, gray-green leaves set this one apart from all of the others. The midsummer white flowers are also attractive. This heuchera is tolerant of full sun but prefers partial shade, especially in the afternoon.
