Genus Hepatica

Hepatica is a genus of two to ten species of buttercup relatives from woodland habitats. They are grown for their basal, lobed, leathery leaves, and their rather dainty-looking flowers in early spring. Grow in a rock garden or naturalized in a woodland.
 Noteworthy characteristics: Lobed, leathery leaves that can be evergreen. Early spring blooms.
 Care: These woodland plants need a cool area with humusy soil, in an area of the garden where their small stature will not be overcome.
 Propagation: Start from freshly sown seed or by division.
