Dennstaedia is a genus of deciduous ferns. They provide groundcover by forming rapidly-spreading colonies in the woodland and beyond.
Noteworthy characteristics: Some species have scented fronds. Note, although some are native, they show invasive growth.
Care: Moist, acidic soil in partial to deep shade. Most prefer full to partial shade, but with consistent moisture, some can tolerate full sun. Once established, they are tolerant of a wide range of soils and are completely low maintenance.

This fern's lacy foliage smells of freshly mown grass and carpets the woodland or a moist, partially sunny site. The green lushness turns golden in the fall. It is a good choice for rapid naturalizing. Use in a woodland garden or near water features.
