Genus Ajania

ah-JAY-nee-ah Synonyms: Chrysanthemum
The Ajania genus is made up of 30 or so species of low-growing perennials and shrubs that work well in a rock garden or sunny border. They do well in poor soils and are rarely troubled by pests or diseases. The leaves of some species are blessed with white margins. Yellow, button-shaped flowers appear in summer and autumn.
Noteworthy characteristics: Low-growing plants with yellow, button-like flowers. Do well in poor soils.
Care: Plant in well-drained soil of poor to moderate fertility and full sun. They will not survive standing water in winter.
Propagation: Sow seed in a cold frame in spring using containers. Divide runners in spring. Take basal cuttings in spring or summer.
Problems: Infrequent.
