This tree-like shrub bears pendent clusters of bell-shaped, creamy-white flowers with rose veins in late spring and early summer. In autumn, the foliage turns magnificent shades of orange and red.
Noteworthy characteristics: Redvein enkianthus matures to a stately specimen with gracefully tiered brances, growing up to 15 feet tall. Site as a centerpiece or as part of a larger shrub border or open woodland where it has room to mature gracefully. It naturally occurs in open woodlands of Japan. 
Care: Grow in humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade.
Propagation: Sow seed in late winter or early spring; take semi-ripe cuttings in summer or layer in autumn.
Problems: Generally trouble-free.
