Lovely shrub but first time we saw it we called it "sticks with flowers". It was wintertime and there were lots of yellowy whitey blosssoms on all the tips nodding towards the ground. As it warmed up, those sad blossoms got happier and happier as they raised up and faced the sun exuding a lovely fragrance. Then the leaves appeared. This is a nice plant to have. A branch on one of my plants was broken by a tree limb falling on it. It was not completely torn off so I got a splint and, using ties, fastened it to the branch going at least 2" higher at both ends. So far so good.
We are in zone7a/b which is pushing it, but mine are planted in woods which shelters it a bit.
