Botanical Name: Corydalis flexuosa Genus: Corydalis

From late spring to summer, this species produces clusters of brilliant blue flowers over ferny foliage. It is the parent of many of the rapidly expanding selection of choice blue cultivars.
Noteworthy characteristics: The species and its cultivars usually bloom in spring and go dormant with the onset of summer's heat, and sometimes sprout again in autumn. 
Care: Prefers partial shade and moderately fertile, well-drained soil.
Propagation: Sow seed when fresh; germination may be erratic. Divide spring-flowering species in fall.
Problems: Downy mildew, rust, aphids, slugs, snails; spider mites indoors.

I enjoy most of the Corydalis, despite most of them being ephemeral [die down in summer]. I have C. flexuosa and several of its cultivars.
