Common Name: Figwort, Creeping snapdragon Genus: Asarina

A half-hardy perennial, this sophisticated climber grows to 8 feet tall. It has a profuse show of 1.5-inch indigo, violet, pink, or white flowers. It's great for the cold greenhouse or conservatory, and will often bloom until the end of the year unless there is a hard frost.
Noteworthy characteristics: Profuse and long bloomer. Easy from seed.
Care: Prefers fertile, well-drained, sandy soil in full sun or partial shade.
Propagation: Sow seed at 61°F in early spring, or root tip cuttings in summer. Self-sows.
Problems: Infrequent.

This fellow is hard to kill but is not invasive in my climate as far as I can see. It is growing over my rock garden and up a rosebush but does not overwhelm the bush and the flowers while small are very pretty. Good for closeup but does not really show up from a distance. I like it in my rock garden because it looks good in this smaller setting.
