Paula Klaas was our final winner from last week's #ContainerCraze contest. We caught up with her and received some additional photos of her garden that we wanted to share.
“Here are some photos of my gardens. I left a much larger property with beautiful gardens, to a smaller property; so basically, I am starting over and creating new gardens. I have enjoyed gardening all my life, from vegetables to perennials, shrubs, and trees. I enjoy collecting seed and sharing them with friends. I collect acorns in the fall and give them to a local grower to start.”
No doubt, we would all love to see some of her former beautiful gardens mentioned too!

Hi, Paula, it's nice to have a peek at some of your in the ground plant choices and combinations since you are such an artist in the realm of containers. Starting over from scratch in creating a garden has to be such an interesting challenge. Do you immediately establish some tried and true favorites? or do you concentrate on buying the new cultivars of the tried and trues since hybridizers are always making improvements (ha, or, at least, that's their goal)? I'll probably be reflecting on my own answers throughout the day as I garden.
The container with what looks like berries and some type of stems is very eyecatching. I wish I had the creativity you have.
Starting over can sure be difficult but it looks like you're well on your way. With your lifelong love of plants, you have an exciting opportunity to start afresh. Your pot creations are lovely and you've managed to create some beautiful height. Ha! Mine always seem to fall short

Having recently started over, but in reverse as we went to a much larger property, I know how hard it is. As Michaela put it, do you try new or stick to tried and true. In any case, it can be a bit overwhelming but you look like you're off to a good start. Congratulations on your winning container and the photo capture of that beautiful swallowtail. Enjoy.
A smaller garden is nice where maintenance is concerned. Looking good. I'm crazy about your agaves.
Very nice containers. What are all the plants in the winning container??? Are the pot gardens new or are they from the old garden? Looks like you have a lot of space to build a new garden. Sounds exciting! At the same time, I'm sure you're missing the other one. I was on vacation and saw some sort of Acorn, it was long instead of round. I put some in a pot and they did grow. I've transplanted them into the ground but have lost track of all but one. And that one is still alive and slowly growing now at about 1ft tall with a few leaves after 2 yrs. lol
